BALMORAL SHOES
Balmoral laced shoes or half boot with closed throat were made fashionable in mid nineteenth century by Prince Albert. This was a closed front laced ankle boot characterised by the vamp wings being extended along either side to form a golosh. The term has been used since 1851 and the boot was especially popular during the reign of Edward VII. A Derby-Bal" is a boot with the vamp wings similarly extended but the eyelet tabs are open.
